Officine Italiane Zard and Triumph: a love story.
When you see a Triumph on the street, parked at the café on your mountain pass or stopped next to you at a traffic light in the centre of Milan, try to look at what exhaust it has: most likely, it will be a Zard! For many years, Officine Italiane Zard has been the choice of many 'Triumph enthusiasts', whether we're talking about the classic Bonneville or Scrambler, the sporty Speed Triple, and even the adventure Tiger.
What was the first Zard exhaust system for Triumph?
The first exhaust created by Officine Italiane Zard for a Triumph model was the innovative stainless steel conical model for the Speed Triple, in 2004. It was a racing exhaust, designed as part of the bike's preparation kit for participation in the Trofeo Speed, a one-make competition run at the time by Triumph Italia. The success of this exhaust soon went beyond the track gates, becoming a must-have for all fans of the British streetfighter. The shape of this iconic exhaust has never left Zard and Triumphs: duly revamped, it can still be found today in the lines of the exhaust for the Street Triple 765 or in the racing slip-on for the powerful Speed Triple 1200.
Scrambler, Bonneville and all the others: Zard for the Triumph Modern Classic line.
Officine Italiane Zard has always paid great attention to Triumph's Modern Classic range, a very wide variety of models inspired by the long heritage of Hinckley: Bonneville, Thruxton, Scrambler, Speedmaster... The elegant and customised style of Zard exhausts perfectly matches the look of these timeless motorbikes, especially considering the large community of enthusiasts who are dedicated to customising them. Over the years, Zard has therefore created a collection of exhausts that now counts dozens of different models, not only to fit the various MYs but also to meet the tastes and trends of motorcyclists, radically changing the design of the bike. We refer, for example, to the complete Zard kit for the Triumph Scrambler 1200, which moves the passage of the headers under the engine for better heat dissipation, or the kits for the Bonneville T100 and T120, which with their short headers place the tailpipes right under the engine for a true café racer look!
Naked and athletic: the Zard range for the Triumph Speed and Street Triple.
As we have said, the long tradition of Zard exhausts for Triumph began with the creation of the conical model designed for the Speed Triple in 2004, and to this day Zard still produces a wide range of exhaust systems for the powerful British three-cylinder roadsters. For the flagship of the family, the Speed Triple 1200 RR/RS, Officine Italiane Zard has created two distinct slip-on silencers, both made from titanium: a single exit racing model without homologation and the fantastic Euro 5 homologated model, consisting of two overlapping asymmetrical silencers completed by an aerodynamic carbon fibre heat shield. Both systems can be completed by the steel racing header kit, to create a complete kit able to unleash the full potential of the 1200 engine. Obviously Zard has not neglected the smallest of roadsters, the Speed Triple. In the catalogue you will find exhaust systems for various MY models, but it is worth mentioning the one for the 765 model of 2021 - a crucial exhaust for Zard, the first designed by the in-house Centro Stile and inspired by the Aero Technology concept.
What's next for the Triumph range from Zard.
Officine Italiane Zard never stands still and always tries to intercept market trends and enthusiasts' requests - keeping an unblinking eye on the Triumph brand. That's why two new exhaust systems will soon be available - and eagerly awaited! We're talking about the Zard system for the Triumph Speed Triple 765 of 2023, one of the most highly-anticipated bikes of the season and a real object of desire for riders all over the world. Also new is the Zard kit for the Triumph Tiger 1200. This is a stainless steel slip-on set with a look clearly inspired by the world of rally and adventure motorbikes, available in both racing and Euro 5 homologated versions. To make this kit even more precious, there are the two carbon fibre heat shields and the Zard tag, impressed on the silencer body using heat-resistant two-colour screen printing - a technology that we also find on the innovative Sabbia collection. Are you ready to make your Tiger roar?
